Our STEP team decided to create a newsletter for our school entitled, S.T.E.P.ping Through Elementary Education as our Professional Development piece. Each member was assigned to write something about a particlar topic discussed throughout the program. The topics we included in our newsletter are blogging, glogging, digital camera, document camera and photostory. Each one shared his/her learnings, experiences, and steps taken to go through with each topic. The articles will truly be helpful to to other teachers since they provide information about going through the digital world. Copies of newsletter were disseminated to all the teachers at Patuxent Elementary School.
Reflections:
My article in the newsletter gave me a chance to think about how my students eyes lit-up when technology was used. Photostory was a concept that I had heard about before and thought about using, but really did not think I was going to. Fortunately for me the S.T.E.P. program gave me the opportunity to use this program with my students and to see the benefits of it. I was truly suprised with how easy it was and how creative the students can be when using it. I will be using photostory alot next school year. If you are looking for another way to introduce your lessons or a way to see the true creativity of your students, then I suggest using photostory and see their eyes light up also.
