Description:

In this lesson, the students will learn how to perform line dances with the use of ELMO document camera in order to: (a) tell and retell steps in proper order; (b) identify and discuss the steps needed to perform line dances (setting, characters of the story, problem or conflict and solution); (c) connect what is seen on the screen to actural real life preformed dancing.  Physical Education is normal a performance-based class.  I was curious how I can include technology in this class.  Wtih most dances, call and response is normally the best method of instruction.  However, the ELMO was a very interactive piece of technology that made learning the dance available to many different types of learners.  The students were really interested in learning how the ELMO could be used in Physical Education.  The ELMO pleasently projected the images wheather on the computer or slide easily and large enough for all students to read and see. 

Reflections:

This was the first time I used the ELMO in my Physical Education class.  It was interesting to see the students walk into the gym and wonder what the ELMO was and what was it doing in the gym.  Once they sat around it and watched me working the ELMO then they were really excited and wanted to explore to find out what else they could do with it.  They also liked that they could see what they steps were that they had to perform on the screen and not just listen to my voice with out picture.  The students loved the aspect of watching themselves on screen using the ELMO.  Seeing themselves really helped those who were having difficulty learning the steps.  In general, my lesson became more successful with the use of ELMO document camera.  The many different uses of the ELMO really brought the lesson to life and the excitement was shown all over the students faces as class end and they asked was it going to be here next time also.
