Description:
In this lesson, the students will watch a video about recycling. The video is titled recycling. The video was found at pbskids.org. The students in this lesson will be able to: (1) identify materials that can be recycled; (2) identify items that are created from recycled materials; and (3) create individual glog about what their learned from the lesson. The teacher will use LCD projector and a laptop computer to show the video to the class. The students will use the ELMO to project thier created list of recyclable materials to the whole class. The lesson proper will be taught with the use of Powerpoint presentation wherein each type of recycleable materials will be discussed separately with corresponding activity samples. To make sure that the students really understand the importance of recycling and how they can be a positive agent for change, they will create their individual glog to showcase what they have learned from the lesson.
Reflections:
Glogster was a new experience for me. This was my first time using Glogster with students. I really did not think that the students would find it interesting. However, I was truly proven wrong. The students really found this to be an exciting lesson that they had creative control over. They took ownership and pride in the Glogs that they created. The video clip they found interesting. The showing of their ideas on the ELMO got them excited. However, the creating of the Glogs took it over the top. The students were so excited that many of them when home and told their parents about it. Helping to make a connection between school and home that is important in education. The students really wanted to make sure that their Glog was correct because they know that it will be published on the Internet and everyone can read it. This was a great experience I can not wait to see what else I can use it for.
