Digital Camera

Today we learned about using a PowerShot A550 digital camera.  The instructors were very detailed in how to use each feature of the digital camera.  After we learned how to take pictures with the camera, we then were allowed to go through the building taking pictures.  The next step was using Photo Story 3.  I really enjoyed inserting pictures in to the program and creating a finish digital story.  This was a great workshop.

Document Camera Reflection

Today, I was in a workshop for use of the document camera.  This was a great workshop.  The presenters were very knowledgeable of the subject matter.  We had the opportunity to work hands on with the camera and software.  The other teachers in the class with me added very important pieces of information from their points of view.  It is nice to hear about how other subject matters see using this technology.  I learned that the document camera is a visualizer that is able to show processes and objects. 

My only question is how can I use this technology within the concept of physical education.  I can see modeling the camera for student as a easy thing to do.  Since, the camera can project images.  Modeling it can be fun and creative. 

The cool thing I saw today was being able to move the camera up and down, instead of it being stuck in one immovable position. 

I have no apprehensions about using the technology.  I can see that the only limitation will be my creativity.

This should be fun.

Hello Everybody,  
My name James Jackson. I am the Physical Education teacher at Patuxent Elementary School.  I have been teaching for 14 years at the same school.  I teach Pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade.  I enjoy sports, taking pictures, video games and relaxing.


My Goals for being in the STEP program are to:

• Help my students to become proficient with the use of technology.
• Help my colleagues use technology in their classrooms.
• Increase my own personal knowledge of using technology in the classroom setting.
